Suabarácti and anaptixe
I learned these two wonderful words in Portuguese today while pondering about the Portuguese word for pearl (pérola) and comparing it with Spanish and Italian perla. It puzzled me why we had that extra o and suabarácti, a word of Sanskrit origin, explains it. Suabarácti (or anaptixe) refers to adding a vowel between consonants. Another example that the dictionary gave was barata (cockroach), formerly brata, and this one from Latin blatta.
