Castle or lock?
Why is it that many languages have the same word for two totally different concepts, castle and lock? German has Schloss, Dutch, slot, Polish, zamek and Czech, zámek. Russian is interesting in this respect. If you accent it on the first syllable, замок means castle. If you accent the second, замок means lock.

Alguns palpites... A palavra "castelo" dá alguma noção de privacidade, prisão, lugar fechado e protegido, não? Não dizemos "encastelar-se" no sentido de "proteger-se, defender-se"? Ao menos, parece que em português "castelo" e "fechadura" têm um valor semântico parecido.
