Rimose

I learned the word rimose today and I thought that Romance languages should have something similar since the word comes from Latin rimosus. Strangely Portuguese is the only language that has kept the root, but there's no trace of it in Spanish, Italian, French or Romanian, at least in the dictionaries that I've checked: http://dexonline.ro/, www.rae.es, http://clave.librosvivos.net/, www.garzantilinguistica.it and http://www.demauroparavia.it/cerca and http://www.lexilogos.com/francais_langue_dictionnaires.htm. I don't want to consider whether this word is found on Google Spanish, Romanian, French or Italian pages. To me it suffices for now to know that dictionaries don't record it, which may be symptomatic of its scarse use. I often wonder what happens to a word when it survives in a language but doesn't in other related ones. Why did people stop using it?
