Le livre est sur le table

Right at the beginning of the movie Eye for an eye, an American girl is studying French aloud and utters Le livre est sur la table. Her mother gently ''corrects'' her: Le livre est sur le table. Tsk tsk.

    Unfortunately the sentence was right in the first place : le livre est sur la table

    Book is masculine (le livre) but table is féminine (la table)
