I came across this Catalan word today meaning
to shelter from the rain. It can be used reflexively, aixoplugar-se,
to take shelter from the rain. This
dictionary says it comes ultimately from the word espluga (cave), very similar to the English word
spelunking. An example sentence I found on the Internet:
La primera explica que amb una tempesta es va aixoplugar a la casa una pastora que buscava les seves cabres per la zona. Translation: The first one explains that with the storm she took shelter from the rain at the house of a shepherd who was looking for her goats around the area. You can't get more concise than this.
Do you know the Japanese word for this? ;-)
